Fire hits slum community in Quezon City
MANILA, Philippines—A fire broke out at 8:01 p.m. in a slum community in Barangay (village) Bagong Silangan, Commonwealth, Quezon City.
Police did not report any casualty yet, but shanties located at the back of the local Department of Social Welfare and Development building were gutted by fire of a yet undetermined origin, Fire Officer 3 Francisco Mabunga of the Quezon City Bureau of Fire Protection said.
The fire was placed under control at 8:30 p.m. and the bureau is investigating the amount of damage inflicted and the number of residents affected.
