Sitoy assures fair probe on Garcia

DESPITE losing influence due to a new administration, Dumanjug Mayor Nelson Garcia can expect fair treatment in the Provincial Board (PB)’s investigation on the administrative cases filed against him.

“It’s just incidental that the composition of the committee is Liberal Party (LP) but he (Garcia) does not need to worry about that,” said PB Member Arleigh Sitoy, charman of the PB’s committee on complaints and investigation.

Charges against Mayor Garcia were filed by Dumanjug Vice Mayor Guntrano Gica who ran under the LP in the last May elections.

Gica accused Garcia of appointing Emmylou Cabonillas as a secretary in the municipal council even if he previously appointed another person, Nerio Aquino for the same post vacated by Victor Tan.

Baricuatro was Garcia’s vice mayor in his previous term and is the son of former mayor Cesar Baricuatro, whom Garcia ran against.

Aquino was reportedly unable to report to work since Cabonillas allegedly refused to turn over the key of the Secretary’s Office following Garcia’s instructions.

Gica also filed the same administrative case before the Ombudsman-Visayas. Correspondent Peter L. Romanillos
