Fitness studio owner found dead in Batangas

BATANGAS CITY, Philippines — A 44-year-old female tenant in a three-story building in Lipa City was found dead inside her bedroom on Monday morning, police said.

Senior Police officer 3 Archie Limbo, Lipa City police chief investigator, identified the victim as Marifi Caraan, who owned a fitness studio located on the first floor of the building in Barangay (village) 6.

Limbo said Caraan, whose bedroom was on the second floor, was found dead with traces of blood on her head by a third-floor tenant, who dropped by her room at 6 a.m.

He said investigation showed Caraan was hit on the head with a clay flower pot because bloodstained pieces of the pot were found beside her body.

Limbo said Caraan had been renting the spaces in the first and second floors of the building.

Investigators have yet to establish the motive in the killing and indicated that the only item apparently missing from the victim’s bedroom was her cellphone, according to Limbo.
