EXPECT more people to be charged for their involvement in the pork barrel scam.
So said Senator Bam Aquino, quoting Justice Secretary Leila de Lima who appeared last Thursday at the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee.
The first set of charges is related to the misuse of the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) while the second batch is for the abuse of the Malampaya fund.
“They will just continue the investigation and by next week expect more people will be charged,” Aquino was guest speaker of a summit on social media at the University of San Jose-Recoletos yesterday.
“If he wants time then we will give it to him but the question is when?” Aquino asked.
Aquino also refuted rumors about the supposed friendship of the President Aquino, his first cousin and the Napoles family.
“It is already proven that it is not true and to think, it is the President who pushes for reforms to have a matuwid na daan (governance),” he added.
Earlier this month, photos of President Aquino and alleged pork barrel scam mastermind Janet Napoles and her socialite daughter Jeane surfaced. The photos were taken here in Cebu in November last year after the National Thanksgiving Mass of the canonization of San Pedro Calungsod.
This Sunday, more than 50 organizations under the umbrella of the Cebu Coalition Against the Pork Barrel System will hold a rally from Fuente Osmeña to Plaza Independencia.
Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma endorsed the activity, asking all parishes to send delegations.
