Colonnade chess starts

THE FIRST-EVER Colonnade Mall VMA-Power Open Chess Tournament will kick off today at the Colonnade Mall lobby.

Around a hundred wood pushers are expected to showcase their talents in this tournament organized by Engr. Marvin Guardiana of the VMA-Power Group of Companies.

The two-day tournament will be handled by veteran arbiter Marvin Ruelan.

The top wood pusher will walk away with P7,000 while the second placer will get P4,000. P2,000 goes to the third placer.

FEATURED STORIES

The tournament will use a nine-round Swiss system format.

Registration will start at 9 a.m. today. Registration fee is pegged at P200 for open division and P100 for the kiddies and ladies division. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
