20 witnesses to be presented in Napoles bail petition

MANILA, Philippines – More than 20 witnesses were  expected  to  appear at a Makati court this Friday morning  for the bail petition of Janet Lim-Napoles.
Judge Elmo Alameda of Branch 150 of Makati Regional Trial Court will hear the bail plea of Napoles who is currently detained at Fort Sto. Domingo in Sta. Rosa, Laguna for serious illegal detention of her cousin and whistle-blower Benjur Luy.

The court was set  to hold  morning  and  afternoon  sessions this  Friday on the bail petition.

Apart from Luy, a subpoena was  also issued to his mother, Gertrudes, as well as Marina Sula, Rodante Berou, Mary Arlene Baltazar, Merlina Pablo Sunas, Maria Flor Vistal Villanueva and Anabelle Luy-Reario from the  prosecution side.

From the defense side, Kapunan earlier said that they will present 17 witnesses.

The court will hold  morning  and  afternoon  hearings   This morning hearing is just the first part. The second portion is set to be conducted at around 2 p.m.

Aside from the serious illegal detention case, Napoles is also facing plunder charges before the Office of the Ombudsman in connection with the pork barrel fund scam.
