Slaughter to join PBA Rookie Annual Draft

TO nobody’s surprise, former University of the Visayas (UV) big man Greg Slaughter is at the head of the list of applicants for the 2014 PBA Annual Rookie Draft slated Nov. 3 at the Robinson’s Place Ermita in Manila.

Slaughter, a UV ace before his glory years with the Ateneo Blue Eagles, beat the deadline set for Fil-foreigners who are looking to get drafted for next season. This was according to a report that was posted on Spin.ph.

Slaughter has long maintained that he will be joining the PBA draft this year after stints with the NLEX Road Warriors in the PBA D-League and the Gilas Pilipinas.

Other amateur standouts, namely former San Sebastian ace Ian Sangalang and Letran’s Raymund Almazan, are also expected to throw their name in the pool. One big name though – Bobby Ray Parks – has still to say what his plans will be following this season although he has mentioned in previous reports that he was looking to become the first Filipino to make it to the NBA.

Others who are in the first batch of draft hopefuls are Isaac Holstein of Big Chill, James Forrester of Arellano, former Perpetual Help gunner Jett Vidal, former Jose Rizal University ace Nate Matute, former Adamson star Alex Nuyles, Jen Knuttel and Mike Silungan. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
