Cebu City hikes gold harvest to 46 in Batang Pinoy Visayas tourney

TEAM Cebu City Niños stayed on track of retaining its overall title in the ongoing Batang Pinoy 2013 Visayas Qualifying Leg in Maasin City, Southern Leyte after padding its haul to 46 gold medals as of yesterday.

This after Cebu City’s karatekas and swimmers capped their campaigns with 15 gold medals each while its tracksters got seven gold medals. Cebu City’s chessers pocketed five gold medals while its weightlifting team won four golds.

Cebu City also harvested 33 silver medals and 14 bronzes from the above mentioned sporting events.

The Cebu City Sports Commission however, failed to provide the complete names of the city’s medal winners.

Michael Ichiro Kong and Val Andre Chiu finished their campaign in the swimming competition with five and two gold medals respectively.

ong dominated the 200m butterfly and 50m butterfly on the first day and added three gold medals yesterday after placing first in the 200m and 400m individual medley and 100m butterfly events while Chiu added a gold in the 50m freestyle.

The annual meet will close its curtains on Saturday with Cebu City Niños virtually assured of repeating as overall champs with the remaining events expected to be dominated by the Niños.
