MORE than 400 residents in Dumaguete City are expected to participate in the disaster preparedness caravan tomorrow at the Dumaguete City High School multipurpose gym.
Smart Communications Inc., in cooperation with the Dumaguete City government, initiated this project to bring the message on disaster preparedness through the “Pamilyang Ready, Pamilyang Panalo” caravan.
The participants come from 12 flood-prone barangays, which include Cadawinonan, Junob, Bagacay, Tabuctubig, Buñao, Balugo, Camanjac, Candauay, Mangnao, Banilad and Calindagan.
Smart Communications’ Joyce Ann Panaligan said the event complements the government’s Noah’s Ark program by communicating with the barangay residents.
Activities in the caravan include disaster preparedness fair where Smart’s business partners sell disaster-preparedness products with exclusive discounts such as Eveready batteries, RiteMed, Talk ‘n Text and PruLife UK.
Dumaguete City is the last leg of the five-city caravan. Other areas include Marikina City, Malabon City, Cagayan de Oro City and Bacolod City.
