Wolves, Blue Devils extend winning runs
THE CONVERGYS Wolves and the Stream Blue Devils scored blowout wins to extend their winning streaks in the 2011 Powerade E-League for Basketball at the City Sports Club-Gym last Saturday.
The Wolves padded their winning run to four with a 98-62 trashing of the JP Morgan Chase and Co. Bankers, while the Blue Devils nailed a third straight victory by routing the undermanned Supportsave Dragons, 111-92.
With those wins, Convergys tightened their hold of the solo lead in the standings with a 9-1 (win-loss) slate, while Stream moved up to solo second place with a 9-2 card.
Dean Junber Escalon scored 19 points, Kristian Tapic tallied 15, Emmanuel Auman scattered 12 and Ronald Mabanto had 10 in Convergys’ 36-point triumph.
Stream had balanced attack as it had six players scoring in double figures led by Roderick Mangubat’s 24-point explosion.
Supportsave, which showed with only five available players, was led by Edmon Paradiang with 26 points. Wilmar Pongan wound up with 21 markers, Janille Bantilan added 20, while Fritz Blanes had 16 for the Dragons, who dropped to 2-8.
Article continues after this advertisementJP Morgan, which slid to 3-6, was paced by Jonathan Zaragosa with 21 points, while Petronillo Blanco and Lorenzo Ruiz contributed 11 each.
Article continues after this advertisementIn the other game, the Eperformax Reds bagged their sixth win in 11 games after they nipped the Accenture Sharks, 68-62.
Nhor Anthony Sayre fired 14 points to lead the Reds, while Joel Nebria and Mark Jeffrey Baello submitted 13 and 12 markers, respectively.
