An 18-year-old man was arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by policemen Sunday night in barangay Calamba, Cebu City.
Homer Rivera Abellana has been selling illegal drugs since he was still a minor, according to Senior Insp. Eunil Avergonzado, chief of the City Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operation Task Force (CAIDSOTF) .
Avergonzado said Abellana’s financier is in New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City after being convicted of the same offense.
Abellana claimed that he is still a minor, but police insisted that he is already 18 years old. “He is only pretending to be a minor to escape criminal liability,” Avergonzado said.
During the operation conducted in A. Lopez St., barangay Calamba, Abellana sold a pack of suspected shabu worth P200 to a policeman who posed as a buyer.
When the transaction was completed, the police frisked him and seized a big pack and 14 small packs of shabu with an estimated street value of P50,000.
Avergonzado described the 18-year-old as a Level 3 pusher who is capable of selling not less than 200 grams of shabu a week.
In an interview, Abellana admitted that his “boss” is jailed at the national penitentiary.
Abellana was previously arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm, Avergonzado said.
Avergonzado added that they were able to get more information related to the illegal drug trade from Abellana’s mobile phone. The police official said that Abellana would have become a drug lord had they not arrested him. “Naay tendency nga ma-drug lord ni siya kay bata pa gani, dagko na ang iyang baligyaan (He’s still young but he already made big sale of illegal drugs),” Avergonzado said.
