7 families evacuated from Baseco compound

MANILA, Philippines – Several families were evacuated on Monday from Baseco compound in Tondo, Manila amid flooding and heavy rainfall in the city, a Radyo Inquirer 990AM report said.

Seven families or around 40 individuals were transferred to the Baseco evacuation center, the report said, quoting Johnny Yu, officer-in-charge at the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.

The Manila City local government has also started pre-emptive evacuation for residents in low-lying areas, including Baseco, Parola and communities near the San Juan river.
