Alert level 1 up in Marikina River

MANILA, Philippines – Marikina river reached Alert level 1 Monday morning from the heavy rains spawned by the storm-enhanced southwest monsoon.

“As of 8:12am, water level is 15.1 meters,” the Marikina public information office posted in its Twitter account.

Six floodgates were also opened.

Alert level 3 means at least 15 meters above sea level.  It is at Alert level 3, or 17 meters that calls for evacuation.

All classes in public and private in Marikina were suspended early in the day because of the heavy rains.
