‘Odette’ exits but rains to continue – Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines – The southwest monsoon will continue to dump rains in Luzon even as typhoon “Odette” (international name Usagi) left the country Sunday.

A yellow warning was re-issued by the state weather bureau on Sunday afternoon.

“Moderate to occasionally heavy rains affecting Metro Manila, Cavite, Pampanga, Rizal, Bulacan and portions of Batangas and Laguna and most likely to continue for the next three hours,” the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration said at 3p.m.

“Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon and Mimaropa will experience cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms which may trigger flashfloods and landslides,” Pagasa said in its afternoon forecast.

Meanwhile, Bicol region and Western Visayas will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms. The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest to south will prevail over Northern Luzon and coming from the southwest over the rest of the country, Pagasa said, adding that coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be moderate to rough.
