BAYANI Alvarez of ABS-CBN, Sun.Star Daily’s (SSD) Hanz Llerin and Cebu Daily News (CDN) Corra Mae Aliste completed a rare three-peat in the annual Cebu Press Freedom Run yesterday at the Cebu Business Park.
Ultra marathoner Alvarez ruled for the third straight year the men’s five-kilometer race by crossing the finish line in front of the City Sports Club Cebu in 20 minutes and 56 seconds.
Llerin also won for the third consecutive year the women’s 5k title by clocking 29 minutes 25 seconds.
Aliste, meanwhile, bagged her third successive 3k women’s crown by breasting the tape in 18:19, more than a minute ahead of her time last year of 19:42.
The men’s 3k winner was The Freeman’s Julius Panenio, who finished in 14:01.
Runners up in the men’s 5k race were Dino Tantan of The Freeman (23:17) and Jenus Benting (24:59). In the women’s side, Susette Dionela of The Freeman settled for second (33:18) followed by Kristeneth Catipay (33:58).
In the 3k race, Ernesto Cabunag of SSD finished second (14:28) followed by CDN’s Gabby Lariosa (14:38).In the women’s side, ABS-CBN’s Christine Fernandez finished at second (19:05) while The Freeman’s Divine Sanchez Ngujo rounded off the top three (19:24).
