Gaisano Country Mall Anniversary Run set

Gaisano Country Mall will hold a running event on Oct. 13 that will serve as one of its activities for the celebration of its 20th anniversary.

The race is dubbed Gaisano Country Mall 20th Anniversary Run and will start and end at the mall’s premises along Camp Lapu-Lapu road and Gov M. Cuenco Avenue in Cebu City.

Proceeds of this race will be used for an outreach program for the benefit of the Club in Unity for Restoration thru Empowerment (CURE).

The running event will be featuring 15-kilometer, 10k and 5k distances.

“We want to make this event extra special by doing it for a good cause,” said Alexis Gaisano of Gaisano Country Mall during yesterday’s official launching at the Light House Restaurant in Gaisano Country Mall.

Joining Gaisano were CURE’s Gina Di Sarno Luague and Mitch Uy along, Gaisano Country Mall’s Sheryl Sia and Charmaine Suson and race director Joel Baring of the Sports and Fitness Enthusiasts (SAFE).

CURE is hoping to raise the awareness of child trafficking and prostitution in Cebu. They are currently housing sexually abused children rescued from cyber sex dens in various places in Cebu for the past 15 years.

“We are very thankful that the organizers of this running event chose our foundation. We want to offer hollistic approach to these children and give them a chance to live a normal life,” Di Sarno Luague said.

This running event was last held in 2011. It skipped last year because of lack of manpower, according to Sia.

An estimate of P70,000 worth of cash prizes await the top finishers in each category.

Registration fee is pegged at P300 for the 5k, P350 for the 10k and P500 for the 15k. Registration points are at the RUNNR Ayala Center Cebu, A Runners Circle (ARC) in Raintree Mall and Gaisano Country Mall costumer service area. The Deadline of registration will be on Oct. 12.
