Eid al-Fitr is now as festival of fast breaking. It is an annual reunion among all Muslims all over the world. Eid al-Fitr 2011 will be on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011, which will correspond to the first shawwal 1432 Hijrah calendar,
The Wisdom of Eid (feast in this world) is in remembrance of Eid (feast in life hereafter [Yaumul Qiyamah]). People from different walks of life gather in a grand brotherly assembly in a wide area with fresh air.
Some believers use new clothes, others are without clothes, others are laughing while others are crying. All these are in remembrance of a feast in the life hereafter.
It is a fresh celebration of remembrance for a remarkable achievement of each Muslim in service God (Allah).
Every Eid feast is a thanksgiving day with a joyful atmosphere in offering gratitude to God (Allah, STW) for helping people with his mercy to fulfill their spiritual obligations toward fasting in Ramadhan. They give thanks to God (Allah) by giving alms to the poor and needy.
Muslims around the world make a fresh start of the day by worshipping God (Allah), glorifying his name and demonstrating the remembrance of the favors they received from Him.
With this they pray for their beloved dead, visit the sick and send good wishes (tah’niat bil Eid).
The Eid feast is a day of victory for those who succeeded in securing spiritual rights, proving their strong willpower. It is a sign of a victorious spirit throughout the Ramadhan. It is a celebration for having a strong command over one’s desires and ego. It is a celebration for the exercise of self-control and attainment of a high level of morality. It is a celebration for having acquired the best qualities and discipline to stay away from vices and indecency.
It is the freedom from jealousy and greed, which causes self-enslavement.
The Eid feast is a harvest day for Muslims all over the world, for the achievers working in service for the Almighty God (Allah) (SWT).
The faithful believers reap the fruits of their good deeds. On this day every member of the Muslim community is reaping or collecting revenues in one way or another, especially for those who are sincerely concerned with the general welfare of their fellow believers in the community.
Those who who cannot give will receive.
Eid feast day is a day of forgiveness. Muslims pray for forgiveness and strength. Allah (SWT) said in the Holy Qur’an 14: “But those will prosper who purify themselves (15),” and glorify the name of their guardians Lord, “and left their hearts in prayer (16).” Nay (behold), ye prefer of this life of this word (17). “But the hereafter is better and more enduring (18). And this is in the book of earliest (Revelations) (19)—the book of Abraham and Moses.
The Muslims physically and spiritually purified themselves in the Ramadhan with the most willpower , praying for their forgiveness with strength. The Almighty God assured those who approached him sincerely with forgiveness. Therefore, Muslims feel ashamed before God (Allah) when they hold enmity or ill feelings towards their brothers, including non-Muslims.
On this day, Muslims must forgive those who have done them wrong so that they should be forgiven.
Eid al-Fitr is a feast day of peace. Muslims establish peace within their hearts by obeying the laws of God and leading a disciplined life. On this day, they will concluded a most inviolable treaty of peace with God. Thus, if a person is at peace with God, he is also at peace with himself and consequently with the rest of the world, especially to his community.
Prophet Mohamad, peace be upon him, said: “Be extra diligent on this day, the festival of fast breaking or “Eid al-Fitr. It is the day that we are forgiven from our sins and our prayers accepted and see us with mercy”.
Zakatul-Fitr-or Sadaqatul-fitr or charity for breaking the fast must be paved early before Eid so that the poor and needy may be able to receive in the Eid day a festive and cheerful spirit in at least one full meal.
Eid festival is a day of peace, a day of Islam and a day of God.
