Norwegian nabbed for string of cases in Liloan

A Norwegian man who is facing a string of cases was arrested in barangay Catarman in Liloan town yesterday and was detained in Danao City Jail.

Alf Inge Madsen, 38, is facing charges of grave threats and physical injuries before the Municipal Trial Court in Cities (MTCC) of Danao City.

Police officers led by Insp. Catalina Diotay, chief of Women and Children’s Protection Desk of the Cebu Provincial Police Office arrested Madsen when they chanced upon him yesterday afternoon.

The Norwegian threw a violent fit and tried to resist the arresting officers. He was however overpowered and was locked in the detention cell of the Danao City Police Office.

Heddah Largo, Provincial Women’s Commission Consultant who accompanied the arresting team said they saw Madsen about to enter their compound on board his pick up truck at around 3 p.m.

“Actually, we went there merely for reconnaissance. Pagbalik namo kay nagtagbo man mi, mao tong gidakop na siya (When we went back, we saw him and decided to effect the arrest),” Largo added.

Largo said the complainant sought their assistance last August for security reasons and out of frustration over the archiving of the 2008 case.

The complainant according to Largo told them that Madsen has been threatening to hurt her.

While working on her case, they advised her to stay in the house of barangay captain Josefina Quiros of barangay Maslog, Lilo-an for her protection.

Madsen refused media interviews. He can be seen from outside his detention cell crying. /Reporter Joy Cherry Quito
