INVESTIGATORS remain clueless on the identify of the gunman who shot dead Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Information Officer Jesus “Jessie” Tabanao Saturday night on Escario Street in barangay Camputhaw, Cebu City.
Supt. Carmelo Dayon, head of Task Force Tabanao, said they are still waiting for the result of the forensic examination on Tabanao’s cellular phone from the Anti Cybercrime Group.
As of yesterday, only one witness expressed willingness to execute an affidavit as others may have reservations to come out because of fear, said Supt. Rex Derilo, deputy chief of the Regional Intelligence Division (RID).
Derilo assured that witnesses will be given proper protection.
Tabanao was brought to his hometown in Moalboal yesterday.
His hearse and the convoy passed by and stopped for few minutes in his residence in Camella Homes in barangay Lawaan, Talisay City before proceeding to Moalboal where he will be buried on Thursday.
PDEA-7 Director Lyndon Aspacio said they provided two security escorts to Tabanao’s family until his burial.
Aspacio also revealed that they will immediately process the release of Tabanao’s benefits from the agency.
“We will see to it that he will be given the proper assistance,” Aspacio said.
Tabanao was on his way to fetch his eight-month pregnant wife, Katrina, at the IT Park when he was shot dead. /Correspondent Chito O. Aragon
