MANILA, Philippines – Storm signals in areas affected by tropical storm Odette (international name Usagi) were lifted Tuesday even as it remained almost stationary over Cagayan.
The storm, which was last observed 815 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City, was forecast to remain almost stationary within the next 24-36 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Tuesday afternoon.
It packed maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.
Although storm signals were lifted, it will continue to enhance southwest monsoon that will bring light to moderate rains and thunderstorms over the western sections of southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
Pagasa warned that sea travel is risky over the seaboards of Occidental Mindoro and Palawan.
Heavy to intense rains within the 350 kilometer-diameter of the storm are expected, Pagasa said.
