THE Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) will intensify the campaign against theft and robbery by conducting random checkpoints around the city.
CCPO chief Senior Supt. Noli Romana said they are resorting to address the top two crimes in the city. From January to July this year, the CCPO recorded 1,605 cases of theft and 653 cases of robbery.
Romana identified the pier area and Osmeña Boulevard with the most incidents of robberries.
These crimes said Romana usually happen between 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Aside from the random checkpoints, the CCPO will also be deploying more police patrols in critical areas.
The police chief also reiterated the need to strictly implement the blue warning light system on public utility vehicles. A city ordinance requires public utility vehicles to install blue lights on top of their cars which will serve as a distress signal when lighted. /Correspondent Christine Emily L. Pantaleon
