THE BELLES of the Cebu Doctors’ University (CDU) keep on showing they are indeed the real deal as they beat the defending champions University of San Carlos (USC) Lady Warriors in the 2013 Cesafi volleyball tournament last Saturday at the Aznar Coliseum.
A laughingstock of a squad several seasons ago, CDU has reloaded and stocked up on talent under the mentorship of Fr. Rolando T. Manayon.
This season, CDU is reaping the fruits of its labor by logging a 25-15, 25-18, 28-30, 25-19 victory over the Lady Warriors.
The victory was CDU’s third in four games, which has virtually earned it a spot in the semifinal round. USC, meanwhile, dropped to its fourth loss in five games.
In the other game in the women’s division, the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Lady Jaguars finished the round on a high note as they swept the University of Cebu (UC), 25-9, 25-20, 25-19.
The win also put USJ-R in the Final Four. UC, on the other hand, dropped to their fourth straight loss.
In the girls division, USC kept its perfect record alive after defeating Southwestern University (SWU), 25-16, 15-25, 25-20, for its fourth win in as many starts.
The defending champions USJ-R also emerged victorious as it beat UC, 25-8, 25-13, for its third victory in four games. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
