Man gunned down
A MAN was shot dead while standing in a basketball court in barangay Sambag Dos, Cebu City.
The victim was identified as a certain Sherwin, who succumbed to gunshot wounds in the head and chest.
Operatives of the Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) recovered five empty shells and three misfired bullets from the crime scene.
A resident was hit by a stray bullet, said police.
The incident happened at 11:45 a.m. yesterday.

Jepp robbers strike in Mandaue
A 44-YEAR-OLD woman was robbed at gunpoint while aboard a passenger jeepney in barangay Guizo, Mandaue City at dawn yesterday.
Fen Tundag, a resident of barangay Cogon, Bogo City, said she was shocked when, while the jeepney was traveling along A.C. Cortes Avenue, two male passengers poked guns at her and declared a hold-up.
Tundag said out of fear, she was forced to hand over her shoulder bag to the two men containing P800 cash, important documents and other valuables.
The robbers had already alighted when the jeepney driver learned about the robbery.
The driver brought the victim to the Centro Police Station to report the robbery.
Police said at least three robberies have been reported to have happened along that jeepney route.

Fisherman dies in hit and run
A 60-YEAR-OLD fisherman was killed in a hit and run incident in barangay Maslog, Danao City last Friday morning.
Marcelo Benabaye, a resident of Barangay Cotcot, Lilo-an town was declared dead at the Provincial Hospital in Danao City.
SPO1 Reynante Manulat, traffic police investigator, said the victim was walking along the road in sitio Dag-utlan when he was hit by a Toyota vehicle.
Police said the car sped off, leaving the victim lying at the side of the road.
Police said the victim’s relatives were uninterested in filing charges should the driver show up but they are hoping for financial assistance for the victim’s burial./CORRESPONDENT GABRIEL C. BONJOC
