THE Department of Science and Technology in Central Visayas (DOST) will host a workshop entitled “Advocacy Workshop on the Development of Green Schools and Eco-efficient Water Infrastructure in the Philippines.”

The workshop, in partnership with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, will be held on Sept. 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the DOST-7 conference room in sitio Sudlon, barangay Lahug, Cebu City.

Topics to be discussed are divided into three sessions. Session I is on “Eco-efficient Water Infrastructure Development and Green Growth”; session 2 on “Green School for Eco-efficient Water Infrastructure”; and session 3 on “Best Practices on Eco-efficient Water Infrastructure for Green Economy.”

The workshop aims to discuss concepts, models and issues related to green schools and eco-efficient water infrastructure, strengthen the capabilities of government officials and key stakeholders for green school and eco-efficient infrastructure and promote green schools and eco-efficient water infrastructure in the Philippines.

The lectures will be administered by Korean experts. The workshop also includes a tour on the DOST-7 Integrated Storm Water Management facility. This system serves as the demo-facility of ISWM in the Philippines using Korean technology. With the DOST ISWM facility, rainwater and storm water may be collected for treatment and utilized for washing, toilet flushing and gardening purposes.

The workshop is for free. Those who pre-registered will be assured of seminar kits. For registration, contact Yvette Hope Labus at 2548269 or 418-9032 or e-mail at yvenescence@yahoo.com.
