Fire hits residential area in Manila

MANILA, Philippines—A fire that gutted a residential area in Manila has been put out, a city fire officer said.

The blaze razed a still undetermined number of houses in Balic Balic, Sampaloc at 9:54 a.m. Thursday, Fire Officer 3 Oliver Sison of Manila fire department said.

The fire reached fifth alarm before it was placed under control at 10:39 a.m. No other information was available.
