MAN KILLED ON HIS WAY HOME
A 35-YEAR-OLD man who had been receiving death threats was shot dead while walking home in barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City yesterday afternoon.
Killed on the spot was Freddie Amodia, a worker of PEBA Manufacturing and Trading Corp, makers of handicraft products.
Police said the victim was using his cellphone while heading home when a man followed him and opened fire from behind.
A empty shell of a 9mm caliber pistol was recovered in the crime scene.
Police said the assailant, whose face was covered with a cloth, fled on a motorcycle driven by another man.
Police said the victim was married with three children.
Police said that according to the man’s cousin Ritchie Amodia, the victim had been receiving death threats through text messages.
The unknown sender warned the victim to end his relationship with a woman who has a boyfriend. /CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA
FISHERMAN FOUND DEAD
THE body of a 60-year-old fisherman was found floating in the waters off barangay Lambug, Badian town, southwestern Cebu last Monday morning.
The fatality was identified as a certain Turnino, a resident of barangay Basiao, Badian.
Turnino was last seen carrying his fishnet last Sunday.
Police said it was another fisherman, Loly Cedeno, 53, who saw the floating body.
An autopsy on the man’s body will be conducted to determine the cause of death, police said. /CORRESPONDENT CHRISTINE EMILY L. PANTALEION
