MINUS their top playmaker, the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters posted what was by far the most lopsided victory in the 38th Governors’ Cup, blasting the Barako Bull Energy Colas, 120-93, last night at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Painters, who played without the injured Paul Lee (hyper-extended elbow), bounced back from a 76-82 loss to the Meralco Bolts last Friday to tie their victim’s slate at 4-3 (win-loss).

The Energy Colas faltered in their attempt to move up to solo second place, failing to duplicate their efforts in their 98-97 win over Globalport Batang Pier last Sunday, where they clawed back from a 15-point fourth quarter deficit.

AZ Reid topscored for the Painters with a game-high 34 points, while Jeff Chan added 20 points on a hot four-for-five shooting from the field.

Mike Singletary paced Barako Bull with 31 markers, while Danny Seigle chipped in 19.
