Doc Salcedo bags Labba hoops title

THE Doc “Chester” Salcedo-led Doc Salcedo team routed Lucky-9, 96-79, last Sunday to bag the championship of the 2013 Lagtang Balik Basketball (LABBA) 2nd Conference basketball tournament at the barangay Tabunok Sports Complex in Talisay City.

Doc Salcedo had a slim 26-23 lead in the opening period before tearing the game wide open in the second with a 21-13 run for a 47-36 advantage at the half.

Doc Salcedo posted its biggest lead in the fourth by unloading a 26-21 bomb with team owner Chester Salcedo canning all of his 12 points in that stretch.

Jan-jan Cambaya and Roy Abacajan led Doc Salcedo with 24 and 20 points, respectively while top MVP contender Rickboy Nacario and Chester Salcedo added 16 and 12, respectively.

FEATURED STORIES

Donkoy Napoles and Derik Cuizon paced Lucky-9 with 20 and 17 markers.

Meanwhile, Marcel Abaquita scattered a game-high 26 points to lift CCR CARS to a 96-87 victory over Siomai of Edwin Nadal in the battle for third.

Ogie Baltazar paced Siomai with 30 points.
