The victim was rushed to Quezon City General Hospital but died due to gunshot wounds in the back.

Ulanday claimed that Paule was carrying the firearm when they saw an approaching police car. He said that Paule handed him the shotgun in an attempt to hide it but as they were passing it to each other, it went off,  hitting the victim.

Ulanday was arrested after he was positively identified by witnesses, one of whom told the police that he had gone to her house and had confided in her that he unintentionally shot the victim.

The suspect also asked for help in bringing his friend to the hospital although he suddenly left without giving her an explanation, she added.
