Floods submerge parts of Metro Manila

MANILA, Philippines—Several areas in Metro Manila were flooded spawned by sudden heavy downpour Tuesday afternoon, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said.

In a Twitter advisory, the MMDA said that as of 5:32 p.m. C5 near Hypermart was submerged in waist-deep floodwaters.

As of 5:24 p.m., Mindanao Avenue had tire-deep floods, C5 Libis City Bank with gutter deep, EDSA Main Avenue (northbound) with gutter deep, EDSA Megamall (northbound) with tire deep, EDSA Kamayan to Mazda (southbound) with gutter deep, EDSA Q Avenue (both directions) not passable to light vehicles; and EDSA Gate 4 (northbound) with tire deep floodwaters.

The MMDA also said that as of 5:05 p.m., EDSA Kamuning (northbound) service road had half-tire deep floodwaters. It was not passable to light vehicles.
