Two firms in Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu cities engaged in money transfer services were robbed yesterday.

A branch of LBC in barangay Tabok, Mandaue City was robbed by two men identified as Arvin Mabuyo, 26 and Glenn Flores, 29 around 2:30 p.m. The suspects who are currently living in barangay Buaya, Lapu-Lapu City but are natives of Cagayan de Oro City, carted away about P5,000.

Responding police led by Insp. Gennilo Veraque arrested the suspects as they fled on board a habal-habal (passenger motorcycle) and recovered a caliber .357 revolver.

At around same time, two men wearing motorcycle helmets, with one armed with a caliber .45 revolver attempted to rob an M. Lhuillier pawnshop and money transfer in barangay Bajac. The two robbers however fled without taking anything after the teller Rhodora Tuñacao pushed the alarm button which activated the shop’s emergency buzzer. The suspects fled on a motorcycle.
