Private plane missing in Biliran

MANILA, Philippines—A private plane was missing after it was reported to have crashed Tuesday morning at a mountain village in Naval town, in the province of Biliran, the provincial information office said.

The still unidentified aircraft was seen to have crashed in the village of Imelda at around 7 a.m., the Bilirian information office said.

Authorities, however, have yet to find the ill-fated plane and they could not yet confirm the number of passengers onboard.

Naval Mayor Susan Parilla said in a statement that search and rescue operations were underway. Firefighters and emergency personnel equipped with ambulances were in the vicinity, she said.

Parilla called on aviation authorities to conduct an aerial survey to find the missing plane.
