Three promotions company employees were arrested and charged on Saturday night with qualified theft in the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office after they were caught in the act of pilfering over P60,000 worth of laundry detergent intended for supermarkets.
The three were caught by Prestige Promotions Inc. manager Steven Ngo who tailed them along with operatives of the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (QCPD-CIDU).
Assistant City Prosecutor Corazon Romano found probable cause to file a qualified theft charge in court against Frederick Dayawon, 31, a coordinator for Prestige; Armando dela Rama, 35, driver; and Omar Gabat, 26, a truck helper. She recommended bail of P50,000 for each of them.
SPO1 Pascual Fabreag of the QCPD-CIDU said that before the three were arrested at 3 p.m. on Friday in a vulcanizing shop on Katipunan Avenue in Old Balara, Ngo conducted an audit in July where he discovered discrepancies in the delivery of products to Prestige’s clients.
Fabreag said that based on the suspicion, Ngo and QCPD-CIDU men decided to follow Dayawon, Dela Rama, Gabat and promodizer Bernardo Lodrabo during their scheduled delivery of 200 boxes of laundry detergent bags on Friday morning to two supermarkets.
According to the case investigator, after the two deliveries, the delivery truck suddenly stopped at the vulcanizing shop where the three started unloading 44 boxes of the laundry detergent worth P63,360 and a sample booth valued at P10,000.
