Navotas opens 1st hospital

/ 09:42 PM September 08, 2013

The first hospital in Navotas City is on track to open early next year.

In an interview, Navotas Mayor John Rey Tiangco confirmed that the hospital, to be operated by the city government, could be completed late this year and opened to the public next year.

The city government has allocated P225 million for building the hospital, the first medical facility to be built in the small coastal city.

Tiangco said the funds for the construction came in 2011 after the city government auctioned off a number of abandoned power barges docked at the Navotas fish port, after its owner failed to pay tax arrears to the city government.

“The hospital will have a capacity of 50 beds and of course, it will serve primarily our 250,000 residents,” he said. Nathaniel R. Melican
