M’daue jeepneys still not allowed in Cebu City
MANDAUE City jeepneys are still barred from entering Cebu City streets until after the release of a Metro Cebu transport study which is being undertaken to determine if the city’s roads could still accommodate them, a Cebu City official said.
Rafael Yap, executive director of the Cebu Integrated Traffic Operations Management (Citom) said the planned traffic study will determine the growth areas within Metro Cebu and identify the appropriate mode of transportation.
“We are deferring action on their request pending the conduct of a metrowide traffic study. For now, it is status quo,” he said.
The Metro Cebu Development Coordinating Board (MCDCB) is conducting the study.
Even if the Citom wants to undertake the study, Yap said they don’t have the budget to do it.
