As action in the secondary division resumes early today, the University of San Jose Recoletos (USJ-R) begins its campaign to defend its collegiate title in the football competition of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) at the Cebu City Sports Center.
USJ-R, the defending champion, takes on a newbie in the tournament—the Don Bosco College (DBC).
USJ-R successfully ended its four-year title drought in the Cesafi football collegiate competition by dethroning then defending champion USC, 1-0, last year.
The Jaguars are seven-time collegiate champions from 2000 to 2007 while USC held the title in 2008 and 2011.
USC will be seeing action in the second collegiate match against the University of Cebu (UC), who proved to be a strong contender for the title last year.
The last match of the day will be between University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) and the University of the Visayas (UV).
Prior to the collegiate matches, the Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) hopes to solidly its hold of the top spot in the secondary division as it meets USJ-R right after University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) takes on defending champion Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC).
The Greywolves currently lead the pack with a 2-0 (win-loss) record, which translates to six points.
The junior Jaguars hope to post their first win this season after bowing to the younger Panthers last weekend.
The Magis Eagles, on the other hand, will be looking to secure the second spot against the Panthers, who are hoping to get back into the win column after losing to the Greywolves last weekend.
