Agro-forests Philforest’s main mandate

Philippine Forest Corp. (Philforest) is a government-owned and controlled corporation  and a subsidiary of Natural Resources Development Corp., which was created by Executive Order No. 786.

Its purposes are: providing “expert services and management” for agro-forestry programs, reforestation programs, providing livelihood to beneficiaries of agrarian reform, establishing and operating eco-tourism projects, and participating in activities related to public agricultural and forest land.

Presidential Proclamation No. 2057, signed on May 7, 2010, by then

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, added management and development of the Busuanga Pasture Reserve in Busuanga town, Palawan province, to the Philforest task.

The EO that led to Philforest’s creation also gave it tasks in wood processing, exploring, developing and managing “all forms of investment and business-related activities pertaining to agro-forest development.” Inquirer Research
