Police said the mother was already pregnant when she was released from the psychiatric ward of the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City a year ago.

Police said the mother was initially turned over to the barangay health center in Tayud where she was taught how to take care of herself and her baby. /CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA
