Hero cops decorated, bizman awarded

The Police Regional Office 7 awarded seven policemen and a civilian during the opening of the Crime Prevention Week yesterday.

Decorated with the PNP Medal of Merit were Barili police chief, Insp. Arvi Arbuis, PO3 Acelino Ricaplaza, PO2 Pablito Caadlawon, PO2 Jesie Lloyd Sebial and PO1 Ronnie Guzman for neutralizing an armed man that created trouble in barangay Poblacion last month.

Arbuis and Caadlawon were wounded in the operation and were awarded the Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting.

A Plaque of Recognition was given to SPO2 Egmedio Felisan Jr. for being the Regional champion in the nationwide search for the 2013 Model PNP Family. Felisan is currently assigned at the Police Community Relation (PCR) and Cebu City Police Office (CCPO).

The same award was also given to PO2 Celesty Español, a single parent for winning the regional award in the nationwide search for the 2013 Model PNP Family in solo parent category.

Man arrested for tying up ‘drunk’ wife

A 36-year-old man was arrested for allegedly beating his wife inside their home in sitio Lupot, barangay Tuminjao, Daanbantayan town, north of Cebu.

Richel Maloloy-on was arrested  inside his house hours after the suspect’s wife, Marissa, 46, reported the incident to the police with her hands still tied together.

SPO1 Mamerto Gastador said that according to Maloloy-on, he was only defending himself from his wife who had returned home drunk at around 6 p.m. last Saturday.

The suspect claimed that he was forced to bind his wife’s hands together when at the height of their altercation she  tried to attack him with an axe./Correspondent Joy Cherry Quito
