The registration for the 2014 Cobra Energy Drink Ironman 70.3 Philippines will be opened on Oct. 1 at 8 a.m. via its website—ironman703phil.com.
This was announced Sunday night after the airing of the highlights of this year’s edition over Studio 23.
Princess Galura, project director of the organizing Sunrise Events Inc. (SEI), confirmed the date and said that 2,150 slots will be available. This is the same number that was gathered last Aug. 4.
Galura, in an earlier interview, said that SEI is looking into increasing the number of slots for next year but they are still working on how many will be accepted for next year’s race.
The annual international triathlon race will be returning to Cebu for the third time next year and will once again utilize the cities of Lapu-Lapu, Mandaue, Cebu and Talisay.
The race, slated for Aug. 3, 2014, will once again start and end at Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa in Lapu-Lapu City.
During the awarding last August 4 at Shangri-La’s golf park, SEI CEO Wilfred Steven Uytengsu revealed that if they wanted to come back for next year’s race, they should grab their slots as soon as registration is opened so they will not be shutout.
For this year’s edition, which has been described as the biggest and best Ironman 70.3 Philippines, registration was opened in December and slots were gobbled up in just four days with about 600 in the waiting list.
Organizers have promised a better and bigger event next year even before the 2013 Cobra Energy Drink Ironman 70.3 Philippines was ranked second best in the world by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC).
The race garnered a rating of 97.60 points based on the feedback from the 2,150 participants who took part in last Aug. 4’s competition.
Preparations for next year’s edition will also start as early as this month.
