Baby girl born with congenital defect needs to undergo surgery

Kyrie Lim

Baby Kyrie Glaube Lim has been confined at Philippine General Hospital (PGH) since she was born on Aug. 4 due to congenital diaphramatic hernia.

The condition is characterized by a defect in the diaphragm—composed of muscle and other fibrous tissues—which separates the organs in the abdomen from those in the chest cavity.

In Kyrie’s case, her condition has resulted in her liver being located very near her lungs, making it extremely hard for her to breathe without a ventilator, said her mother, Yolanda Lim.

“Once the infection in her blood has been put under control by the medicines she has been taking, she will be ready for an operation,” she told the Inquirer.

Lim said that PGH doctors have estimated the expenses for the operation to reach P45,000. The ventilator is costing the family P600 daily while Kyrie’s daily medication has so far reached a total of P85,000.

“I don’t know where to get the money for the operation and the daily expenses. My husband, Arturo, is a jeepney driver plying the Alabang-GMA (General Mariano Alvarez) route,” the resident of GMA, Cavite, said.

To contact Lim and help her daughter, call 0923-8012877. Donations can be deposited in Lim’s BDO account with account number 4790144502.
