7 Koreans rescued from sunken boat

Ten persons, seven of them Koreans, were rescued after the pumpboat they were riding sank off Nalusuan islet on Olango Island in Cordova town, north Cebu.

Police said the seven Koreans and three boat crew members were on their way to Nalusuan for scuba diving.

The Koreans asked the police to withhold their names.

One of the foreigners’ escorts was Jeffrey Jabonillo, worker of a dive shop owned by Choo Dook Hee, said police.

Petty officer William Carticiano of the Philippine Coast Guard said the group was headed for Nalusuan when the 20-passenger capacity boat hit something hard, causing a hole near the engine.

Another boat owned by the dive shop arrived and rescued the passengers.
