MANILA, Philippines—The Philippine National Police said Monday 13 former police officers implicated in the anomalous P400-million transaction in 2007 have been placed under custody at the PNP headquarters in Quezon City.
Senior Superintendent Reuben Theodore Sindac, PNP-Public Information Office chief, said the Sandiganbayan formally transferred the custody of the 13 accused to the PNP through Acting Chief Judicial Staff Officer Albert dela Cruz over the weekend.
Sindac said the accused were detained at the PNP’s Custodial Center inside Camp Crame on orders of the Sandiganbayan. Joining them inside the detention facility is former PNP Chief Avelino Razon Jr.
Others detainees are:
– former PNP comptroller Geary Barias
– former PNP comptrollers Eliseo de la Paz
– former PNP National Headquarters-Bids and Awards Committee chair Reynaldo Varilla
– Charlemagne Alejandrino
– Emmanuel Ojeda
– Reuel Leverne B. Labrado
– Alex Barrameda
– Nancy Basallo
– Patricia Enaje
– Ma. Theresa Narcise
– Analee Forro
-Josefina Demanew
The Sandiganbayan earlier issued an arrest warrant against Razon and 32 others over the allegedly fictitious repair and maintenance of 28 units of V-150 PNP Light Armored Vehicles (LAVs) worth around P400 million in 2007.
Sindac said they have yet to account 20 more respondents, but noted that cases filed against them were bailable.
