GENERAL SANTOS CITY—Police here on Friday arrested in Padada, Davao del Sur, a suspected member of the dreaded Ozamiz robbery-holdup gang operating in Manila and other parts of the country.
Arrested was Jerry Jimenez, a security guard at a slaughterhouse in Padada.
Jimenez is facing three counts of robbery charges for his alleged role in a series of heists involving Fit Mart Mall, AA+ Lending and Chantara Emporium here.
Councilor Franklin Gacal Jr., chair of the city council’s committee on public order and safety, told reporters that Jimenez was linked not just to a series of robbery incidents in the city but also in Metro Manila.
“Considering the extent of their operations, we can say that this robbery-holdup gang is quite big,” Gacal said.
In an interview, Jimenez admitted that he was a member of the Ozamiz robbery-holdup gang led by the late Ricky Cadavero.
“I was involved in at least three operations in Manila. But I was never involved in robbing establishments in GenSan,” Jimenez said in vernacular.
Jimenez claimed he joined the group sometime in 2011 but left the gang in November 2012 after the death of his wife.
