Warriors, Jaguars earn twice-to-beat seats

THE UNIVERSITY of San Carlos (USC) Warriors and the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars nabbed the last two twice-to-beat bonuses after they conquered their respective opponents yesterday in the 13th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. men’s basketball tournament at the USC gym.

The Jaguars kept the University of Southern Philippines-Foundation (USP-F) Panthers winless with a 68-58 victory while the Warriors scrambled back from a 10-point deficit in the second half to defeat the University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters in a fight-marred game that saw a total of three players from both sides getting ejected from the game.

The two squads were literally fighting for the chance to get into the top four of the standings and with 6:11 left in the half, they took the meaning to a whole different level.

USC’s Thirdy Miranda and UC’s Charles Pepito were scrambling for the loose ball when USC forward Dominic Adlawan took exception. Things further heated up  when UC’s Windell Santander got involved. When the dust settled, the Warriors’ Pepito and Adlawan along with UC’s Santander got sent to the showers early for their roles in the scuffle.

USJ-R and USC are now tied for third place with identical records of 3-2 (win-loss). /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
