Silvano, Purisima battle for vacant WBO Asia-Pacific belt in Balamban
FIGHT fans in the municipality of Balamban, Cebu will be treated to two fight cards this September.
Virgilio “Maton” Silvano of the Omega Gym of Cebu targets the vacant WBO Asia-Pacific light flyweight title against Jetly Purisima on Sept. 7 at the Balamban Sports Complex.
The 23-year-old Silvano (16W-2L-1D, 10 KOs) holds the Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) light flyweight belt and in his last fight in February beat Louie Arlos by unanimous decision in his hometown in Dalaguete.
“I’ve trained hard for this fight because for me, it’s the biggest fight of my career,” said Silvano. “I’m in top condition right now and I’m very excited to fight.”
The 25-year-old Purisima (17W-12L-4D, 5 KOs) is a grizzled road warrior who has fought in Thailand and Indonesia .
Also penned to appear on the card is Marvin Sonsona, the former WBO world superflyweight champion, who will make an appearance after more than a year-long hiatus. He will be facing Jason Egera of Siaton, Negros Oriental.

On Sept. 25 in the same venue, ALA Promotions will have a boxing event headlined by Jimmy Paypa vs Jason Redondo in a ten-round, non-title contest.
