A talent manager lost P1.8 million in cash and valuables to burglars who broke into his Quezon City house while he was fetching his children from school Friday afternoon.

Leon Tan, 51, reported losing cash, gadgets and jewelry which he kept in his Barangay Batasan Hills residence.

Inspector Alan de la Cruz, theft and robbery section chief of the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, said the victim only learned of the burglary upon coming home Friday night.

Aside from the cash, the Tans also lost an iPhone 4S worth P33,000; an iPod Mini priced at P22,000; an iPod worth P10,000; and P1.3-million worth of jewelry, watches and imported bags from the master bedroom on the second floor.

Tan said he and his wife left the house around 12:30 p.m. to fetch their children at school.

Upon arriving home around 8:45 p.m. Friday, the couple saw their gates forcibly opened.

Since the house is inside a gated subdivision, De la Cruz said, investigators started the search for suspects with a check on the security guards’ logbook for the entry of any vehicle without subdivision stickers. Julie M. Aurelio
