Sacked helper held for slay of 7-year-old boy, 2 maids

CAMP VICENTE LIM—A 7-year old boy and two house helpers were murdered in Silang town in Cavite on Wednesday, and the suspect, a former houseboy, was arrested around midnight on the same day, police said.

Supt. Simnar Gran, Silang police chief, said Jed Anthony Guanen, 20, was arrested at his relatives’ home near Batasan Hills in Quezon City.

At around 8 a.m. on Wednesday, the boy, AJ Valentin, his nanny identified only as Joy from Antipolo City, and houseboy Rosky Piojo, 25, were found dead inside the Valentin home in Barangay Bucal.

Piojo’s body was found in the laundry area while those of AJ and Joy were inside the boy’s bedroom. All victims suffered multiple wounds inflicted by an ice pick.

In a phone interview, Gran said two other house helpers. who had left the house at around 7 a.m. for an errand, found the bodies when they returned.

AJ’s father, Diodisio Valentin, a single parent, was in Nueva Ecija at that time to attend to his farm, Gran said.

The officer said Guanen was identified as the person seen entering and leaving the house through a CCTV camera at the house.

Gran said Guanen told police that he used to work for Valentin, but was fired a few months ago after he was accused of stealing from his employer.
