MANILA, Philippines — The camp of Janet Lim-Napoles will soon file an urgent motion for reconsideration before the Makati regional trial court to “either transfer her to Camp Crame or any facility that has sufficient protection.”

Representing Napoles, lawyer Lorna Kapunan expressed on Thursday her client’s dissatisfaction with her detention cell.

“Aside from the insufficient security in the Makati City Jail, it is a penal institution. It’s only for convicted felons,” she said.

Under tight security, Napoles was transferred to Makati City jail from the custodial center at the Philippine National Police headquarters in Camp Crame in Quezon City late Thursday night by authorities.

Kapunan lamented that Napoles was being persecuted by the tri-media and that it was “too much already to put her in a cell.”

“That [Napoles in a detention cell] is a human rights violation. She is psychologically breaking down,” she added.

Napoles is the alleged mastermind behind the P10 billion “pork barrel” scam involving the alleged misuse of the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) or “pork” by several lawmakers for bogus nongovernment organizations.

Saying she feared for her life, Napoles surrendered to President Benigno Aquino III Wednesday night, having gone into hiding for two weeks after the Makati regional trial court ordered her arrest.
