Doctor stabbed in downtown theft

A DOCTOR was stabbed after he tried to help a snatching victim in downtown Cebu City.

The incident happened while Dr. Benjamin Cesar Alix Jr., 33, was on his way home after his duty at the Chong Hua Hospital Wednesday night.

Police said Alix, a resident of barangay Camputhaw, Cebu City, was waiting for a jeepney ride on Osmeña Boulevard when he saw a man grab the cellphone of another man.

The doctor ran to the victim’s aid when a cohort of the snatcher stabbed him in the chest.

The thieves fled after the incident.

Concerned citizens brought the doctor to the Chong Hua Hospital.

MAN GUNNED DOWN IN MANDAUE

A 31-YEAR-OLD man was shot dead by an unidentified assailant in barangay Maguikay, Mandaue City Wednesday night.

Ali Piamonte succumbed to mutiple gunshot wounds in the back.

Police said Piamonte was walking along a road in sitio Sudlon past 10 p.m. Wednesday when he was shot.

Senior Insp. Jimmy Fortes, officer-in-charge of the Investigation and Detective Management Branch (IDMB) of the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO), said +a personal grudge could be the motive of the attack.
